What is IVF (In Vitro Fertilization)?

In-vitro fertilisation (IVF) is a process by which eggs are retrieved from a woman’s ovaries and then fertilised with sperm outside the body. This is usually done in vitro, or in a laboratory. Step 3: Egg retrieval and semen collection

Eggs and sperm are collected from the wife and husband.

The samples are then sent to the laboratory where they are fertilized in a lab. Embryos are created from the fertilized eggs in a lab.

Step 5: Embryo Selection:

This is the embryo selection process to determine which embryos are the best fit for implantation into the uterus.

Step 6: Embryo transfer

The embryos are then transferred into the uterus of the wife. The fertilised embryo is implanted in the uterus. The wife has to wait for a period of time before she can know that she is pregnant.

Step 7: Pregnancy test

The wife will then start to show signs of being pregnant. She will begin to feel strange as her body begins to change.

Step 8: Foetal development and birth The baby is now growing in the uterus and the mother is waiting for the day that she can give birth.
